28 Jan The American Diaries – 22.12.16
Location: Los Angeles
I cannot describe to you the excitement I felt, stepping off the plane into LAX airport for the very first time. Los Angeles was totally different to anything that I have ever seen before, yet somehow it was what I had previously imagined.
As soon as we got out of the LAX Airport, we were confronted with the hustle and bustle of peak hour traffic. This normally would not have been a problem, as we were not in a hurry, but my dad was driving. On. The. Opposite. Side. Of. The. road. To be honest, my first right hand driving experience was terrifying and I don’t think I got used to it at all.
Our first destination was the hotel, we stayed right near Disneyland in Anaheim. The hotel was quite small but our rooms were really nice and they served breakfast every morning. After we had unpacked some of our stuff, we decided to go to a nearby beach and have lunch by the sea. We found a small Italian restaurant and ate there however, there was not much else to see in that area so we decided to go shopping.
Not gonna lie, my first shopping experience in LA was amazing. We went to The Citadel which is basically just full of outlet stores (think DFO but outside), there was Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Guess, H&M and many more amazing brands there. Let’s just say that I spent a lot of money on that first day (I blame jetlag). After we had finished our shopping spree, we went back to the hotel and had the best sleep ever. Day 1 was slightly uneventful compared to the rest of the trip however, it was still amazing and I’m so grateful for this experience.
I have decided that I am going to write about each day in seperate blog posts, so stay tuned for more American goodness!
